Frequently Asked Questions About Probate and Estate Administration

  • What Does a Probate Attorney Do During the Estate Administration Process?

A probate attorney guides executors and beneficiaries through the legal procedures involved in estate administration. This includes filing necessary documents with the court, identifying and valuing estate assets, paying debts and taxes, and ensuring proper distribution of the estate according to the will or state law. By handling these steps, a probate lawyer helps avoid delays and legal complications that often arise without professional support.

  • How Long Does Probate Usually Take in Connecticut?

The probate process in Connecticut can vary depending on the complexity of the estate, outstanding debts, and whether any disputes arise. Typically, probate may take from several months up to a year or more. Having an experienced probate attorney from Mastrianni & Seguljic, LLC, by your side helps streamline the process and address challenges promptly, ultimately saving you time and unnecessary stress.

  • Are All Estates Required to Go Through Probate?

A skilled probate attorney can help defend the will’s authenticity, facilitate mediation if possible, and protect your interests throughout the dispute. Addressing contests quickly is vital to preserving the estate’s value and honoring the decedent’s wishes.
